WYD Trailer
Nästa World Youth Day (WYD) som hålls i Rio de Janeiro ligger bara drygt ett år bort. Arrangörerna har nyligen släppt en video för att bjuda in ungdomar att delta i firandet mellan 23 och 28 juli 2013.
I traileren uppmuntrar ungdomar från olika länder andra att närvara vid evenemanget. Den tar också en titt på höjdpunkterna från WYD från starten i Buenos Aires med Johannes Paulus II i 1987 till den senaste WYD i Madrid i augusti 2011. /SIGNUM

Från börsmäklare till pilgrim
(På bild är pilgrimer från Världsungdomsdagen i Spanien, 2011)
Pilgrimen som går ut i världen utan att äga någonting är en del av den österländska ortodoxa traditionen. Det finns att hitta i klassiska böcker som "The Way of the Pilgrim" och den klassiska boken "Paustinia" av Catherine De Hoeck Doherty. Min bror träffade på en sådan pilgrim här i USA. Deras konversation gick som följande:
- Vad händer när du reser. Brukar du bara gå eller liftar du?
* Jag liftar aldrig, men accepterar skjuts om någon erbjuder .
- Brukar polisen plocka upp dig?
* Ibland, men när jag förklarar vad jag sysslar med är de oftast trevliga. Ibland ger de mig en säng att sova i för natten.
- Vart?
* I fängelset.
- Ahaa
* Det ger mig en möjlighet att missionera för fångar som sitter i häktet.
- Vart har du rest?
* Över hela världen.
- Hur lyckas du skaffa flygbiljetter
* Någon brukar alltid vara på resande fot dit jag vill åka, och brukar erbjuda att köpa mig en biljett.
- Har du pengar att köpa mat för?
* Människor brukar vanligtvis köpa mig en måltid eller ge mig mat. Ibland går jag till den lokala prästens hus.
- Vart ska du spendera natten ikväll?
* Förmodligen hemma hos dig.
Min bror bjöd hem honom och fick möjligheten att hör den vandrande pilgrimens hela sin historia. Pilgrimens namn var Andrew. Han brukade arbeta som börsmäklare på Wallstreet. När han konverterade till den katolska tron, gav han bort allt han ägde, förutom en stor Bibel som han alltid har med sig. Andrew är ingen galning, snarare motsatsen. Han tog helt enkelt Herrens ord till sig på ett radikalt sätt. Han berättade att han har fått vittna många mirakel genom att leva på detta vis. Guds hand har varit uppenbar i allt. f. Barron - en icke hotfull Jesus?
I det här klippet pratar f. Barron om att göra Jesus till sin egen avbild. Vi vill gärna framställa honom som en icke farlig existentiell filosof, bra lärare eller en guru. F. Barron menar att detta är inte möjligt eftersom man då skulle vara tvungen att ta bort delar av Nya Testamentet....

Vi ungdomar ställer alltid konstiga frågor om Gud och förväntar oss att vi ska få svar på allt. Det spelar ingen roll hur gamla vi är, vart vi kommer ifrån eller vad vi gillar att göra. Alla dessa frågor om livet och döden, dåtid och framtid. Vi går runt och rabblar på frågor om rymden, verkligheten och myter. Hur vet vi att Bibeln är sann? Vad är det för tro vi har? Jag skulle kunna rabbla upp minst fem frågor till.Matthew Pinto skrev en otroligt bra bok, titeln är detsamma som rubriken. Han har besvarat på de 100 vanligaste frågorna som katolska ungdomar har. Jag hade gärna velat skriva ner alla men jag har valt fyra stycken av hundra.
”Hur skapade Gud sig själv?”
Gud har inte skapat sig själv. Han har alltid existerat. ”Att skapa” innebär att tillverka något av ingenting. För att skapa något så krävs det att skaparen existerar före det som han skapar. När en snickare skapar ett bord, som exempel, så existerar han före det som han skapar. Om Gud hade skapat sig själv så hade han behövt existera före sig själv, och det hade ju inte spelat någon roll.
Gud kan inte ha blivit skapad av någon annan för att då hade Guds skapare varit större än Gud, och det skulle inte göra någon gå eftersom Gud är ”The Supreme Being”, och du kan ju inte bli högre än högst.
”Hade Eva och Adam någon navel?”
De flesta andra ungdomar tror nog att det här är en skämt fråga, men det är egentligen en riktigt bra fråga. Det som man egentligen menar med denna fråga är ”Om Eva och Adam är skapta direkt av Gud så kan de inte ha haft navlar, men om de härstammade från apor, skulle de ha haft navlar?” Rent ut sagt, man vet inte om de hade navlar. Kyrkan säger ingenting om det eftersom det inte talas så mycket om hur de är skapta, utan varför de är skapta och vad konsekvenserna av vårt skapande är. Detta är också skillnaden på vetenskap och religion. Vetenskap talar om hur, religion talar om varför. Så vi får helt enkelt vänta tills vi kommer till himlen!
”Varför älskar Jesus oss så mycket?”
För att han är Gud. Gud älskar oss mest. Våra sinnen är begränsade och vi kan inte förstå det oändliga, vilket gör att vi aldrig fullt ut kommer att förstå varför Gud älskar oss så mycket. Den första och mest grundläggande anledningen till varför Jesus älskar oss är för att Han skapade oss. Inte nog med det, Han fortsatte att älska oss efter att vi hade syndat mot Honom och tillbakavisat Honom. Bevisen för att Jesus älskar oss är att Han dog på korset för oss.
Jag tycker verkligen att ni borde gå till biblioteket och låna denna underbara bok, vare sig ni är vuxna eller barn. Det finns fler mer intressanta frågor och jag kan lova att du blir besvarad på den mest knasigaste frågan du har. Boken är egentligen på engelska och heter ”Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons?”
Jag hoppas att ni som har orkat läsa er hit snart har en ny bok i handen.

Fr. Robert Barron
Jag har följt Fr Barron ett tag på youtube och jag tycker att som katolik så har jag fått mycket mer insikter om den kristna läran. En väldigt positiv egenskap hos fr Barron är att han angripper frågeställningar som kan uppkomma ur ett lugnande samt intellektuellt basis. Han presenterar argument som håller och som man kan själv använda sig utav i ens egen tillvaro. Han diskuterar allt ifrån filmer och vetenskap till äktenskapsfrågor.
Jag kan verkligen tipsa om honom ifall du är intresserad av religiösa, filosofiska ämnen.

Opera i tre akter
Regissören Johanna Garpe tar sig an Francis Poulencs opera från 1957 och ställer franska revolutionens paroller om frihet, jämlikhet och broderskap på sin spets. Var står vi i förhållande till de orden i Europa idag? Är jag beredd att försvara allas rätt till frihet även om jag inte står bakom dem det handlar om? Eller ens tycker om dem? Operan är baserad på verkliga händelser under franska revolutionen när 16 nunnor i ett kloster dömdes till döden eftersom de fortsatt utöva sin religion trots rådande förbud. I operan ställs andlighet mot materialism – och plötsligt måste man välja sida.

För att läsa intressanta reflektioner/ artiklar så besök gärna Virtuouspla.net, det är ett forum för unga vuxna katoliker. Sidan beskriver sig själv som "The social network for the JP2 & B16 Generations".
Det finns en blog jag gillar väldigt mkt, den sköts av en kille som heter Marc. Jag har snott några av hans inlägg till våran blogg här tidigare. Yupp... det är bloggen Badcatholic.
En annan blog är "Why I am Catholic" - där kan man läsa om personliga berättelser av personer som har hittat sin väg till kyrkan. Kan vara något för den som funderar på att konvertera ;)
Novitas Catholicus är en svensk sida som debatterar det senaste ur en katolsk synvinkel. Den hämtar "Katolska Nyheter från världen till Sverige".
Och slutligen... Den katolska versionen av Facebook = iCatholic.

Eduardo Verásteguis Vittnesbörd

Antalet katolska bloggar och hemsidor är oändliga... en av dem som jag tycker är AwEsome är VirtiousPla.net, en hemsida för unga vuxna (like me=). Här nedan är en historia om en fader som förklarar för en nyfiken ungdom varför vi behöver kyrkan: Bok = Between Heaven and Mirth
Den bästsäljande författaren fader James Martin, SJ, har skrivit en ny bok om Bibeln och Humor. Ni hittar trailern till hans nya bok här nedan. I "Between Heaven and Mirth " försäkrar F. James Martin, SJ, oss att Gud vill att vi ska uppleva glädje, att odla en känsla av helig humor och skratta åt livets absurditeter för att inte nämna vår egen mänsklighet.
